Acer’s $9,000 Predator 21 X Is The World’s First Curved Gaming Laptop
Gaming laptops have been getting bigger and better over the last few years and Acer is taking things a step further in the new year with its massive Predator 21 X. This beast of a machine features a curved 21-inch IPS display that has a resolution of 2560×1080 pixels, not only that but it offers a 120Hz refresh rate as well. It doesn’t stop there though, G-Sync support is included as well to eliminate visual artifacts and issues like screen tearing.
What about under the hood?
|Processor||Intel Core i7-7820HK|
|GPU||Dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 in SLI|
|RAM||4x 512GB SSDs in RAID 0 + 1TB HDD|
|Display||21-inch curved IPS (2,560 x 1,080)|
The Predator 21 X packs a 7th-gen Intel Core i7-7820HK Kaby Lake processor paired with not one, but two GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs in SLI configuration. They’re accompanied by 64GB of RAM and there’s room for five storage drives – a 1TB HDD and four 512GB SSDs (Acer didn’t say what storage devices will come bundled with the 21 X).
Not only does the Predator 21 X feature an advanced cooling architecture consisting of five system fans and nine heat pipes, but it also includes Acer DustDefender, which removes dust buildup and improves heat dissipation, and Acer’s CoolBoost app, which adjusts a fan’s airflow for better cooling.
The full-sized keyboard is also fully mechanical and features Cherry MX brown switches for a great typing and gaming experience. The numpad that is included can also be flipped over and used as a precision touchpad.
At an overall weight of a monstrous 19.4 lbs (8.8kg) the Predator 21 X also includes four speakers and two subwoofers, two power supplies, five system fans and nine heat pipes.
Acer is planning to release this monster (in the US) sometime in February, so you still have some time to start saving up.
